Rivers are saints and godesses, endlessly complex nature, space of memory, transport route, water supply and sewage, dynamic systems, technical works, space of income and of recreation, threat and beauty… This lecture evening will give an outline of concrete ideas about the handling of the Elbe.

Könnten aus dem Austausch über den Umgang mit Flüssen in verschiedenen Kulturen Wege für ein umfassenderes Verhältnis zu Wasser entwickelt werden? Flüsse sind Heiligkeiten und Göttinnen, unendlich komplexe Natur, Erinnerungsraum, Wirtschaftswege, Wasser-Ver- und Entsorgung, dynamische Systeme, Technikwerke, Einkommens- und Erholungsraum, Bedrohung und Schönheit… Dieser Vortragsabend wird konkrete Ideen zusammenfassen und auf den Umgang mit der Elbe zuspitzen.

The lecture evening is a cooperation of the Yamuna-Elbe Project with the BSU Department of Urban Development and Environment, Ministry of Hamburg, the Department of Indian and Tibetan Studies of the University of Hamburg, and the GIZ Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit.
